Four ways clients can make the most of the Easter weekend

As the long Easter weekend approaches, many of us are looking forward to enjoying some much-needed time with family and friends – as well as our fair share of chocolate eggs!

For the elderly and those requiring regular home care, however, it can be challenging to participate in some of the more traditional holiday activities. If this is the case for you or someone you love, there are still plenty of ways to still make the most of Easter – whether it’s with friends and family or with the assistance of a Blossom home carer.

Below are just a few ideas to help inspire you with things to do across the four-day weekend…

Participate in an Easter egg hunt

Helping children search high and low across the home to see where the Easter Bunny has left chocolate that’s just waiting to be found is an endearing way to create family memories.

But for less mobile clients for whom the traditional Easter egg hunt may not be possible, there are now many virtual Easter egg hunts that can be enjoyed from the comfort of your own home. These hunts often involve searching for hidden eggs on a website or app, and can be a fun way for all the family to get into the Easter spirit.

Attend a church service

Easter is of course one of the most important religious holidays of the year. For many people, attending a church service can be a meaningful way to celebrate the occasion whilst also catching up with friends and neighbours in the community.

Should you wish to attend your local church service but require assistance to do so, arrangements can be made with your carer. Alternatively this can also be a meaningful bonding experience to attend with family. And for clients who are unable to leave their homes, many churches also offer virtual services that can be easily accessed online.

Enjoy a hearty Easter meal

Sharing a special meal with family and friends is a longstanding tradition during Easter. While dining out may not be an option for everyone, there are still ways to enjoy a delicious dining experience over the weekend.

Your Blossom carer will be able to assist you in preparing a special meal, or help transport you to a loved one’s home if they are hosting any festivities. Many restaurants also offer special meals and discounts for delivery if you simply fancy a tasty takeaway!

Decorate your home

Decorating your home is another fun and visually exciting way to get into the spirit of Easter. Putting up some Easter decorations, such as colourful eggs or bunnies, is a quick and easy way to add cheer to your home. As always, your dedicated care team will be able to assist you in bringing Easter to life throughout your home!

We hope these ideas have given you some inspiration for ways to ensure Easter 2023 is one to remember. Depending on your personal circumstances there are countless more things you can do – such as visiting local attractions and community activities – so be sure to check out what’s going on in your local area.

Easter is a special time of year that should always be celebrated by spending time with loved ones. Blossom Home Care is here to ensure you are able to make that happen this and every year.
