Blossom’s Time To Care Approach

Find home care near you

Blossom Home Care is a true alternative to residential care because we provide personalised care, one-on-one attention and ample time for your carer to complete their tasks and socialise with you. What’s more, unlike in residential care facilities, we can match our carers to you based on your individual needs and lifestyle. This means that as well as receiving quality care at home, your carer can work with you rather than for you, to preserve your independence so you can continue to live your normal life, for as long as possible, on your terms.

What is Our Time to Care Approach?

In essence, our ‘time to care’ approach gives our carers more time to provide you with the ‘bloomin’ good care we’re renowned for. At Blossom Home Care, our care visits last a minimum of 50 minutes (compared to the 15/20-minute industry average). The 50-minute minimum visit means carers have the time to ‘care’ without making them, or you, feel rushed.

The visits are also time-scheduled to enable the carer to spend the actual time with each client; this also means that you won’t be left waiting for your carer to call.  We agree on a set visit time when care commences and that is when we deliver care, trackable via the Blossom Home Care app.

How Do Our Carers Benefit from Time to Care?

The 50-minute minimum calls at set visit times create structure for you and your carer alike, giving Blossom carers time to make a real difference; as one of our carers said recently, “The problem with 15-minute care calls is that as a carer you only have enough time to do what’s absolutely necessary and there isn’t time for any social interaction with the client. Often you feel like you’ve just arrived, and then you’re off again.”

By having longer visits, carers are able to get involved with other activities, for example, shopping, gardening, walking or baking.  Plus, because your carer spends more time with you, they get to know your daily routine better, and become part of it, which also means they are much more likely to notice any changes in your behaviour or health, and can flag this with the multi-disciplinary teams and/or family, which helps to reduce hospital visits.

How Do Our Clients Benefit from Time to Care?

We have had great client feedback on our time to care approach, which gives your carer enough time to do the little things that make a big difference in your life. Importantly, more time with carers means more social interaction for you, which can really help prevent loneliness or isolation.

In short, the 50-minute minimum visits allow for genuine, professional friendships to bloom, while the set visit times help family members effectively plan when to drop by. Our team can also plan ahead to coordinate joint visits with other healthcare professionals when required.  All reasons why our time to care approach is fundamental to our mission to continue to deliver ‘just bloomin’ good care’.
