Like many of you, we have been shocked to read recent newspaper reports about the quality of care many people across the country have been receiving.
As revealed in a recent article by The Guardian, care workers in some council districts are taking as little as three minutes to help hundreds of vulnerable people in their own homes – despite families paying for a full visit to oversee their loved ones’ care.
Other individuals in need were found to have been allocated care visits lasting just 15 minutes, despite The Homecare Association, which represents care providers nationwide, labelling such short visits as “inappropriately short” that result in inadequate care and additional stress for workers placed under “unfair pressure”.
Sadly, we hear about such care providers with no standards or values all too often. This is simply no way to treat friends and family members who are in dire need of genuine care and attention in order to feel safe, comfortable, and above all else happy in their own home.
That’s why a fundamental part of the award-winning Blossom Home Care difference is our unbreakable commitment to ensuring all our care visits last an absolute minimum of 50-minutes – and often much longer.
Why 50-minute visits are so vital to client wellbeing
We give every one of our clients proper care in our own unique way. Dedicating a proper amount of time to provide top-level care services benefits clients immeasurably in many different ways:
- Building bonds: Consistent long visits allows our carers to really get to know their clients and build a personal rapport. This enables us to provide a premium level of holistic care every time.
- Ensuring clients feel valued: Following a lengthy and enjoyable stay, clients are left feeling respected, valued, and much happier overall having received their premium personalised care. Everyone should feel this way in their own home, whatever their circumstances.
- Participation in social activities: From tea and biscuits to full days out, clients are able to take part in all the activities they enjoy – hugely benefiting their physical and mental wellbeing as a result.
You can find out more about our commitment to 50-minute visits on our dedicated page.
To further support this, all Blossom Home Care offices have robust quality assurance programmes in place to oversee the care being delivered by our staff. This includes electronic records with live feedback and full transparency with our clients and their families via our industry-leading app.
Every individual’s needs are unique, but one thing remains consistent: Blossom always going above and beyond to deliver the care people need and deserve. And we will never compromise our quality of care for cost.
Ensuring our world-class carers enjoy their roles
As the aforementioned report states, care workers are increasingly being placed under completely unfair pressure – with overly-packed schedules, poor working conditions, and stressful routines that leave them unable to deliver the quality of care they’re capable of, but are unable to deliver.
We are on a mission to change this: another founding principle we are built on is a commitment to recruiting the very best carers in the country, whilst treating them every bit as importantly as our clients.
This is intrinsically linked to our minimum 50-minute care visits, as all home visits last long enough to connect with clients and deliver the care and attention they need. After all, real care isn’t about constant firefighting during whistlestop visits that only last a few minutes. The enduring bond between carer and client is an incredibly vital aspect of our holistic approach to care and improving clients’ wellbeing.
In addition, we also offer carers fantastic pay, engaging routines, expert training, and round-the-clock support. You can find out more about why we’re such an attractive proposition for carers here.
