Well, what a night we had at the Great British Care Awards Regional Final (Yorkshire and Humberside Region) on 17th November at the National Railway Museum in York!
The Great British Care Awards are a series of regional events held throughout England to celebrate excellence across the care sector. The purpose of the awards is to pay tribute to those individuals who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their field of work and we were extremely proud to have been shortlisted for two awards – the Home Care Team Award and the Home Care Registered Manager Award (for which our very own Carri Walters was shortlisted).
The “Strictly Come Caring” theme certainly lent itself to everyone dressing to really impress and the evening definitely celebrated excellence in Social Care with style. It was great to be there and, although we didn’t bring back the top award, we were runners up in in both categories – a fantastic achievement and a testament to the ‘bloomin’ good care’ offered by the Blossom team! Well done everyone!
The awards are inclusive, bringing together the statutory, independent and voluntary sectors, as well as unpaid carers; promoting joint working. There are 21 categories representing all areas of the Social Care sector, covering specialist services, elderly care, residential care and home care. Frontline staff, such as care workers and care managers are recognised as well as people who have made an impact in other ways on the care sector, e.g. training and innovation.
Given the number of nominations from the variety of different care roles and sectors, it was an absolute honour to have been shortlisted for a team award and an individual award (special well done to Carri here) and then to be announced runners up on the night! However, as it’s the second time we’ve been runners up in these awards, we are really hopeful that next time we are nominated it will be our turn to win (third time lucky of course!).
Here we have Carri and Dawn collecting the Runners Up frames.
