Adding to this ever expanding list is the Blossom Canterbury office, which recently embarked on a heartwarming journey to support and raise much-needed funds for the local Help For Teagan appeal.
What is the Help for Teagan fundraising appeal?
Teagan Appleby, a young girl from Canterbury, has spent her life grappling with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome. This is an exceptionally severe case of epilepsy, which causes her to experience up to 300 seizures a day.
Her life took a remarkable turn in April 2019 when she began using medication not yet available in the UK. This transformed Teagan’s life, reducing seizures to just a handful a day, whilst enabling her to relearn skills doctors thought she would never get back.
Whilst it has provided Teagan with a dramatically improved quality of life, it comes at a staggering financial cost. Unfortunately the NHS does not prescribe this medication, even though it is now legal in the UK, meaning Teagan’s parents face a constant struggle to secure the £2,000 required each month to pay for the medication alone, in addition to the costs of the equipment Teagan needs.
How Blossom Canterbury helped raise money
Teagan’s story really touched the Canterbury team’s hearts and they felt a profound need to contribute to this immensely worthwhile cause.
Initially the team had the idea of putting together a prize draw raffle. However, thanks to the overwhelming generosity of the local community, this quickly evolved into a grand Family Fun Day, which took place on Saturday 16 September.
The event witnessed an outpouring of support from local businesses, as they kindly donated prizes and activities for the occasion. Attendees enjoyed a wide array of entertaining games, including name the dog, a coconut shy, inflatable Nerf range, inflatable football darts, and much more. It was a day filled with laughter, camaraderie, and the joy of everyone knowing they were there to make a positive difference to Teagan’s life.
The support from the local community was nothing short of astounding, with the raffle and Family Fun Day raising over £1,000 for Teagan’s campaign. The Blossom Canterbury team would like to once again express their sincere thanks and gratitude to every individual and business who donated, contributed, and visited to make this fantastic event possible.
