The team at Blossom Home Care Beverley are thrilled to announce they will be taking part in the Hull Memory Walk in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society.
Scheduled to take place on 21 September 2024 in Hull’s expansive 120-acre East Park, the walk is being organised by office operator Amy Shearsmith. She will be joined on the day with members of her team – including Kirsty, Sharon and Lesa – as well as carers, clients, and their families.
This immensely worthwhile cause is very close to the hearts of the Beverley team, as Amy explains: “We have a lot of clients who suffer with this horrendous disease, so we hope that coming together as a team to raise as much money as possible will help the cause.
“We are finding that more and more clients are starting with us with dementia. And unfortunately we see the deterioration of clients over time through delivering our care. Age UK is now in partnership with the Alzheimer’s Society, and we regularly attend the Age UK coffee mornings with our clients. So it seemed the perfect match to be able to raise funds to help research and raise awareness of this cruel disease.
“It will also be an opportunity for us to share memories about clients we have lost to dementia and Alzheimer’s. Working in care can be very challenging, yet also extremely rewarding, and it will be great for our team and colleagues to come together as well and talk about how we are feeling.
“We will be asking clients if they would like to join us on the day, including those in wheelchairs who we will take around the park with us.
We encourage everyone who can to join the Beverley team on 21 September in East Park, Hull. Whether you walk with them or support from afar, your contribution will make a significant difference.
The Beverley team are hoping to raise at least £500 for the Alzheimer’s Society.
Raising funds for other vital causes
The Alzheimer’s Society walk isn’t the first charity initiative the Beverley team have taken on.
“We do something every year that is relevant to what is going on with our clients,” says Amy. “Last year we did Pretty Muddy for Breast Cancer Research, this year it’s Alzheimer’s, and next year we are looking at doing something for Marie Curie.”
Taking part in events like these for incredible causes is part of Blossom’s core ethos. Our teams across the country always go above and beyond to improve the lives of clients and those within the wider community.
